  • Coordinator and Helpers needed for Woolworths NetSetGO program

    Coach/Supervisor and Helpers for Woolworths NSG NET Winter Competition 2023 NetSetGO is Australia’s official starter program for girls and boys aged 5 to 10. It’s a chance to learn the netball basics, get outside and make some friends. For a lot of kids, this is the first time they’ll pick up a netball or chuck on a bib. It’s a learning experience. And a lot of fun. SCNA is looking to fill a number of positions for our NetSetGO Net competition this year. We require a co-ordinator (18+) to run the Net program and a number of helpers ( 14+) to assist our co-ordinator with this program. When: Saturday mornings 9:45am(set up) with the program running from 10am-11am @ SCNA courts. The NET program will commence on Saturday 29 April 2023 and conclude on Saturday 26 August 2023. We expect that the program will run for an hour from 10am. (Time to be confirmed) We will not be running during school holidays or on the King's Birthday Weekend. It is expected that the co-ordinator/helpers will be available for most if not all weeks of the program.   • Nominations for South Canberra Netball Carnival now open.

    SOUTH CANBERRA NETBALL ASSOCIATION INC JUNIOR REPRESENTATIVE CARNIVAL Sunday 7 May 2023 Deakin Netball Courts, Makin Place, Deakin CONDITIONS OF ENTRY Nominate teams here https://www.playhq.com/netball-australia/register/27770a Entries close 23rd April 2023. Clubs will be invoiced once teams are nominated. The fee to enter is $70 per team Teams withdrawing after 28th April 2023 will forfeit their entry fee. Matches will be conducted to AANA rules: no injury time, no jewellery, nails cut short, blood rule Only one team per division will be accepted Each team is required to supply a non-playing umpire, a ball, a scorer and first aid kit. Scoring – each team must have a scorer and scorers from each team will stand together on the side of the court. The winning team will return the score sheet. All players must be registered with their own district. Players must be in the registered uniform for that team. As this is a grading carnival for teams, players may interchange within an age group. No playing down. We aim to offer the following Divisions: U11-14 Divisions 1-3; U15 Divisions 1-2. The SCNA carnival committee reserves the right to move teams to create a draw – even on the day if necessary. Each game will consist of 2 x 8-minute halves, with a 1 min break for half time. There will be a 2 minute break between games. A maximum of 10 trophies/medals will be awarded to the winners and runners-up of each division. There will be no finals, if teams finish with the same points, a goal for/against percentage will apply. It is anticipated that the first round will begin between 8:00 and 8:30. Note that this start time may change depending on how many teams are registered. Courts will be open from 7:00 am. Games will start and finish on a central hooter. Depending on the number of teams entered, some divisions will have to play on grass courts. Strapping must be managed by the club/school unless injury occurs during the carnival. All injuries MUST be reported to the First Aid Officer who will treat and record the injury. This will be the official injury record of the day and all injury insurance claims will be managed from this record not via SCNA. First Aid Facilities will be available, provided by Accelerate Physiotherapy. Remind players to wear hats/visors. No hard peaked caps. Canteen and food facilities will be available.

    Registrations for our NetSetGO Net program are now open. Our Net program is for 5-9 year olds. This is an introductory skills based program and the participant will not be playing full games. The program runs on Saturday mornings from 29 April -26 August 2023.   • HCF State League Women's Trials

    Dates: Trials will take place at the AIS on Tuesday 14th February and the following Tuesday 21st (refer to map attached). An additional trial night on Thursday 23rd may be used if required. We hope to have teams selected and announced in order to commence training from Tuesday 28th. The season commences on 21st April. There will be no games on the Queen's Birthday weekend, the 7th and 9th July and the Grand final will be on Sunday 30th July. We will advise registration costs upon successful selection. Timings: You need to arrive by 6:15pm and meet outside the courts to have your name marked off and trial number provided. Warm ups will commence at 6:30pm with the aim of starting trials by 6:50pm until 8pm. What to bring / wear: Please make sure to wear a plain shirt with no affiliations (eg. SCNA, club or another association). Your number will be written on your arm so make sure you wear appropriate clothing so it is clearly visible. Please remove all jewellery, have hair tied back and nails clipped. Don't forget to bring a water bottle! Throughout the course of the trials every effort will be made to play you in each of your nominated positions. We have a large number of players trialling so please let me know by reply email ASAP if you: Have chosen not to trial and wish to withdraw Wish to change your nominated trial positions Can not make either trial date Are injured and need a medical exemption.

    The Netball ACT 2023 Come and Play Day! Come along to the South Canberra Netball Courts between 9am and 11am on Saturday the 18th of February for some fun and interactive Netball games as well as information about how to register for a Woolworths NetSetGO program. The Netball ACT Come and Play Day is the perfect introduction to the Woolworths NetSetGO program and the exciting world of Netball! Or if you are a returning Woolworths NetSetGO participant, please come along for some fun netball games. Kids are encouraged to bring a friend, and parents are encouraged to stay, watch and even join in! Information about the Woolworths NetSetGo Program: Woolworths NetSetGO is Australia’s official starter program for girls and boys aged 5 to 10. It’s a chance to learn the netball basics, get active and make friends, as well as learning fundamental life skills like teamwork along the way. There are three tiers in the Woolworths NetSetGO Program, with each tier designed for a specific age and/or skill level.
